Accessibility statement

We want this website to be usable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or reduced-motion settings.

What we have done

• The site is built as plain semantic HTML, with headings in a logical order and landmarks a screen reader can navigate.
• Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, and focused elements show a visible outline.
• A skip link at the top of each page jumps past the navigation.
• Text and background colours are checked for contrast against WCAG 2.1 AA.
• The footprint map carries a text description of what it shows, so its content is available without seeing it.
• Text resizes and reflows without breaking the layout, and the page never scrolls sideways.
• There is no autoplaying media, no flashing content, and no animation that ignores a reduced-motion preference.

Where we know we fall short

The footprint map conveys geography visually. Its description names the states in each category, but a map is inherently a visual object, and the equivalent list is a summary rather than a substitute.

We have tested with automated tooling and with keyboard navigation. We have not yet completed a full audit with assistive technology users, which is the only way to find some categories of problem.
